Suicide

“thou shalt not kill!”

There is only one thing that would keep a person from going to heaven. That is rejecting the blood of Jesus as payment for sin.

The Jew’s in Egypt were told to put the blood of an animal on the door lintel and down the door posts of their house. God said that He would pass over what that house on the night of judgment when He saw the blood. If the blood had not been applied, He’d send the destroyer angel in to kill the oldest child and the oldest animal in the flock. This blood represented the blood of His Son, Jesus, the Lamb of God.

If they failed to apply the blood, they would suffer the loss of that child and an animal. No matter what the reason was for their failure to obey God.

Now, what about suicide? Here is a person who has, by faith, accepted the blood of Jesus and is born into the family of God. Something terrible has been happening in their life! Nothing has been going right! They have decided that the only answer is suicide! Wow, what a bad mistake.

The Bible says in I Corinthians 10:13 “there has no temptation taken you, but such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able: but will with the temptation also make a way that ye may be able to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” The Holy Spirit lives within us, so we can be victorious over any situation. He may not take things away, but He will go through it with us, if He doesn’t take it away.

The three Hebrew guys went into the fire, but He was with them. Not a hair of their heads was singed. “That ye may be able to bear it.” Verse 13 They were able to bear uit

But, what if I can’t take it any longer and go ahead with my plan? I have taken some pills to give me the courage to do it and am not in my right mind. Then it all happens! Will I wake up in heaven or hell?

In John 14:3 we read that Jesus said, “I (Jesus) go to prepare a place for you and if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto myself that where I am, that ye may be also.”

As a pastor, I had a hospital visit to make one day. I got to the hospital and asked for the room of the patient. The receptionist said to go to the hallway on the third floor and then ask the head nurse for the patient. I got to the third floor and asked the head nurse for the patient. She pointed me to one of the beds in the hallway, so I asked why the patients (about 10 of them) were in the hallway. The head nurse said that they had so many new patients come in that the rooms were not ready.

A Christian who comments suicide is like those patients! The construction Angels had not finished with their place yet. They applied the blood of the Lamb of God, but they couldn’t  trust God for the “victory over the world”. They have to wait until that place is completed. They are in heaven, but not in a position of authority or pleasure. Peter went out and wept bitterly when he denied the Lord.

The person who commits suicide will escape the pressures of this life but end up forfeiting the pleasure they could have had in the 1,000 year age to come. We are saved for a purpose in life! As the three Hebrew boys were thrown into the furnace, we may also encounter some very difficult situations in life. They were accompanied by the Lord in the furnace and we have the comfort of knowing that the Lord says “I will never leave thee nor forsake thee” in this life.

1 Peter 5:7 says “casting all your care upon Him, for He careth for you”.

Escaping the pressures of this life, by suicide, is only advancing us to a place that is far worse and will last 1000 years. That’s a long time! And this is not in hell! Heaven is a very huge place with a lot going on up there. Just wait until God sends His angel for you! Remember, you have to go through Satan’s domain to get to heaven and that’s why He sends an angel to accompany us. Suicide, it seems, causes you to wing it on your own.

Even an angel of God was detained for 21 days as he was coming to earth to encourage Daniel. When he got to Satan’s realm, he got into a fight and had to call on God to help. God sent Michael, one of the chief angels to help him get through that second heaven.

So suicide causes a person to wing it on his own, without God’s angel accompanying him!

Wait on God!
