Do you know, for sure, 100% for sure, that you are going to heaven?  I’ve had many people tell me that no one can know that for sure! But, wait a minute; the Bible tells us that we can! Now, you’ve got to determine whether you’re going to listen to people or listen to what the Bible says.

The Bible says in 1 John 5:13, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life”.

Let me ask you a question: Do you know who you mother is? Is you answer, “Well, one day, I will know who she is?” I don’t think so!

If you are a child of God He wants you to know Him well and He wants you to know that He has a home for you! It’s call Heaven! But, it’s up to you to go home! The ticket has already been bought; it is waiting for you at the ticket counter. Come and claim it! The ticket counter is called ‘The Altar’. The Altar of your heart is the place where you have to come for your ticket.

Let me explain first of all, how this ticket was bought and by whom it was bought! There is a price to be paid for entrance into heaven. It can only be purchased with blood!

Sometimes there are things that die and there is no blood that we can see; but still blood has stopped flowing.

Something has to die and shed its blood if we’re going to have a ticket purchased for heaven, like a goat or a dove or a lamb. The blood is then drained into a bowl and offered for the purchase price of the ticket. The ticket then is irrevocable

In the Old Testament, the Bible recorded a story that was told, God required His people to sacrifice a lamb and put the blood on the altar and their sins would be covered.

Somewhere around 1700 years before Jesus was born, in Bethlehem, the descendants of Abraham, called Jews, found themselves as slaves in Egypt. Their masters were really cruel and it got so bad that the Jews finally admitted that they had rebelled against God and they repented and cried out to God.

God accepted their prayer and sent Moses as their deliverer and God called Jesus His lamb in the New Testament of the Bible. God the father offered Jesus on the cross to take away our sins, not just cover them, but to take them away. Jesus died and then His blood was presented to God the Father so our sins could be forgiven.

The Bible tells us that there is no forgiveness of sin without the shedding of blood. Years ago, when a person heard the story of salvation, they knew the whole story. Then during 1960’s it changed. Today people especially young adults and teens, do not understand the meaning of the blood, so they say that it is offensive. In fact, in the 1960’s, themilitary ordered their song books to be printed without the word ‘blood’ in any song! The word ‘death’ was used to replace the word ‘blood’.  And you know, preachers, televangelists and teachers do the same thing.

Since the Bible says ‘without the shedding of blood there is no remission, or forgiveness, of sins”, those who talk about death and don’t explain the blood are leaving their listeners in continued darkness. I grew up on a farm and saw death, if not daily, certainly weekly. Ninety percent of the time, the blood was not visible and had not been drained. I don’t think I’m going to drain the blood of a mouse? a bird? or a opossum? or a squirrel? a rabbit? But we had death all the same. In larger animals, we would call the ‘dead wagon’ people and they would haul away the dead animal. The blood was of no importance!

But!!! The blood is important! The purchase price is, in fact, the blood, for entrance into heaven. Before the ‘60’s, people understood that the meaning of death was also to include the thought of blood, especially, the death of Jesus Christ! His death involved His Blood being shed.

Today we hear messages to encourage, to motivate, to build confidence and occasionally, how to go to heaven. However those messages about heaven, very seldom, mention the blood as the price with which to purchase our ticket to heaven. They talk about the death, but never the application of the blood.

Here is an illustration for an example. God had to discipline His people, in Egypt, for their sins. They had sinned, they had disobeyed God. But they were His chosen children, He loved them! And so God chose Moses to be the Deliverer and these special children were delivered from that bondage! But God told Moses exactly what to say to them! He told Moses to tell them to take an animal out of the flock, kill it and drain the blood into a bowl. Take a brush, made from hyssop bush, and paint the blood on the door lintel and down the two side posts. And when God would see the blood, He said “I will pass over the house. If I do not see the blood, I will command My destroyer angel to go in and kill the oldest child in that house and an animal in the flock.”

That blood was representing the Blood of God’s firstborn Son, the Lamb of God. That command is still in effect today, in a different way. Jesus, the Lamb of God, has been slain. He was slain on the Calvary’s cross! The Blood has been drained and has been stored in heaven. It is waiting for you to apply it, by faith, to the door of your heart.

Now, here’s a question: What if those people’s oldest son had gone to the flock. He had slain the animal,  drained the blood in a bowl, cut the hyssop brush and put a bowl full of blood on the kitchen counter. He had then gotten interested in a television program. He said “Boy, that was a lot of work – I’m going to rest a few minutes and then I’ll put it on the door”. But he sat down and went to sleep. The next thing that happened was a lot of screaming from neighbors and a loud noise from the Egyptian community.

The mom went to the den to see if the son had fallen asleep watching television but “Oh no! Honey, Wake up! Why are you laying all sprawled out on the floor like that? Honey! What’s wrong? I’ll go get a washcloth for your forehead! Oh no! The blood is still here in the bowl! And the brush – the brush – has never been used! Oh, my son, my son!” What a tragic thought that would be! Now listen, they knew what the blood represented. They knew what to do with it! But, they never did it! There was death, but there was no application of the blood.

Today, the Blood is in heaven at the mercy seat waiting for you to by faith apply it to your heart’s door, so you can have your ticket to enter heaven. Don’t sit down and watch the world pass by! You may fall asleep!

So here’s what you have to do to be on your way to heaven. By believing that Jesus is the Son of God and He died and shed His blood for your sins, you can pray this prayer. Just repeat it after me, but mean it with your heart: “Dear God, I know that I am a sinner and I need to be saved. I know that Jesus is your Son. I know He is your Lamb, sacrificed for me. I now, by faith, accept His death and shed blood as payment for my sins. I now apply His Blood to my heart’s door. Come into my heart and save me! Take me and use me in whatever way you want. I pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen”

The Bible says “These things have I written unto you that ye may know that you have eternal life”; and also He says, “all that the Father giveth Me, shall come to Me, and Him that cometh to Me, I will in no wise cast out”, and “whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

The people in Egypt after they applied the blood, left, but they were not perfect. They were still human. They got thirsty, they got hungry, and they still sinned, but they were out of Egypt! Egypt represents the world in the Bible. They hadn’t crossed the Red Sea yet (which represents baptism), but they were free to go out of Egypt and were on their way to the promised land. You have been washed by the Blood of Jesus Christ and, therefore, have eternal life and you are on your way to heaven if you prayed that prayer and meant it in your heart! His Blood is your ticket into the eternal heaven.

As you live the rest of your life here on earth, as a Christian, you will make mistakes, and that’s called sin. You are human, but, there is help for you! God has given His own Holy Spirit to live within you, to lead you, and to guide, and to direct you along life’s highway. By reading the Bible you will know that God wants you to do certain things. And you will know what God wants you to do, because God’s Holy Spirit uses God’s word, the Bible, to guide you in every decision that you need to make.

You need to get into a church that teaches the Bible as God’s word. Some churches teach that the Bible contains the word of God, but does not teach that all of the Bible is God’s word. And that’s wrong because all of the Bible IS God’s Word!

And baptism is an outward picture of an inward change. As God’s Chosen people went out of Egypt they had to go through the Red Sea and on their way to the ‘promised land’. Baptism is the first step of obedience in following the Lord. Now baptism does not save us, but it does start the process of qualifying us for a position of reigning with Christ in His coming kingdom of 1,000 years. Applying the Blood of Jesus, by faith, to your heart’s door is the only requirement for heaven eternal.
